About Me
Hi, my name's Ann Bishop and I've been working with horses for most of my life. I studied at Brackenhurst College in Nottinghamshire where I achieved my BHSAI qualification. After leaving college I travelled to Italy where I worked on a show jumping yard to gain more experience. When I left Italy, I spent some time in the United States where I taught children how to ride in both Western and English styles. On returning to the UK, I worked at Wimbledon Village Stables teaching all levels of riding and at the age of 21 I finally had my own horse, Spike! I backed Spike, brought him on and evented him with some success up to intermediate level. He's now retired and living on the yard with me. The pictures on this page show Spike at his best! |

I moved from Wimbledon Village to Rutland and worked as a freelance groom in many different yards for showing, hunting, dressage, polo and stud before taking the decision to start up The Ridings in 2002! After spending time travelling and freelancing at various yards I wanted to settle down and run my own livery. I was lucky enough to find an ideal piece of land and set about the task of building The Ridings from the ground up! 18 months later after ploughing & seeding the pastures and building the stables & school the livery you see today was opened for business and has never looked back. |
